My latest collection: Dorami (Doraemon's Sister)

It's been 2 months odd since I last blog. During the 2 months I went South Korea for 10 days. Its been a 13 years since I last took a plane and it was exciting. Korea is one of the country I always wanted to go, having the chance to visit Korea is like a dream come true for me. Korea is definitely the best place to visit if you want to buy fabrics. I spent most of my money buying fabrics, their fabrics are simply beautiful.

Beside travelling I did an amigurumi of Doraemon's sister, Dorami. They were siblings as they were operate using the same oil can. I am currently looking for blue yarn so I can make Doraemon which is my favourite cartoon character. Without further ado, I shall present you my Dorami project.

Though my Dorami may look a little weird but it simply make me happy when ever I look at it.

Blue top with black collar

It has been a long long time since my last post. I been busy sewing clothes for my mum and myself. I will be posting pictures of clothes I sewed for my mum soon. :)

Recently when I was browsing the gmarket I got inspired by the clothes sold on the website and decided to design a top for myself. Thanks to my sewing classmate who brought me to a shop which sell cheap pre-cut fabric, I managed to get the blue fabric at a bargain price. As for the collar I used remaining fabric I have from my previous projects.

I wanted to sew a chelsea collar however due to my drafting of the pattern the collar look a little weird especially at the back.

For this post I would like to thank my friend, Boo, for taking the photos for me :)

Pink Polka dot Sleeveless dress

It has been quite awhile since I last blog. Today I would like to share a project which I have completed a month ago (Thankfully I am still able to fit into the dress as I have put on weight lately. -.- ) This is my first attempt doing a sleeveless project. Hope it does turn out well :)

This is my design of the dress. It's a rather simple design since it is my first attempt. Instead of making a full box pleated bottom, I've made the pleats below the dart area fold towards the centre.

I've used the pink bow hair tie which I did previously to match my dress. :)

I've placed a belt so as to make my waist line more visible.

Does the dress look better with or without the belt?

Turtle neck blue top

Continuation from my previous post (butterfly inspired bow), I would like to share with you the top I made using the same fabric. It is a turtle neck top. I've made the turtle neck wide and lower so I won't feel hot wearing it. This top could have been better if I picked a fabric which has better resistant to wrinkle. (This fabric wrinkle easily T.T )

Butterfly inspired bow tie

As the title suggest, this project is inspired by a butterfly that gave me a shock while I was walking home. It flew in front of me out of no where. I've used remaining fabric that I had from a project that I did recently which I will share on my blog once I finished hemming it. :)

Tada! The finished product

I notice when the French barrette are being attached to the bow, a gap would be visible at the side.

To counter the problem, I sewed a few stitches to secure the bow to the French barrette

After stitching the gap is closed.

Back view of the bow

I've wrap the ribbon over the French barrette as an extra precaution.

Amigurumi Penguin Couple

Recently I did 2 amigurumi penguins. It is a soft toy done using crocheting or knitting method. There is a saying in chinese, 好事成双 (hao shi cheng shuang) which meant good things comes in a pair. For this project, I made a penguin couple and added bow to its neck and head to show guy and girl respectively. This is also my first art piece that I would like to put on Etsy in the future to share. Hope you will like it too.

Update: This is my new etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/Renepassion

Pink Ribbon bow hair tie

I always wanted to own a ribbon bow hair tie, however I couldn't find the type that I like. After getting inspiration from Youtube I decided to make one instead. I am pleased with the result. I've burnt the ends of the ribbon so as to prevent it from fraying.

Bow tie with elastic band

This is my first attempt doing bow tie using fabric and lace. This bow tie I made it specially for my sis-in-law. For this bow I used 2 different type of fabric namely, a dark brown felt texture fabric and a coarse fabric.

I've added a beige lace in the middle, as my sis-in-law is someone who fond of lace stuff.

I was worried the glue I used may not be strong enough to hole the bow so I added some stitch at the back.

Does this bow design suit your liking too?

Wool Felt Needle

In my previous post, I shared the wool felt rabbit that I made. The needle that I used for hardening and joining the wool felt is unlike normal needle that we use for sewing. The needle have pricks on its side. I think that is reason why the wool felt will harden when needle are used.

This is the needle provided inside the kit.

The side of the needle have pricks on it. The needle is prone to break if you didn't poke it into the wool felt vertically.

Wool Felt Rabbit

Last weekend my sister-in-law, Sianny, bought a packet of animal wool felt kit for me from Diaso. It is my first time using wool felt and I was amaze by it. To shape/join the wool felt all you need is a needle meant for it.

This kit is a good buy as it has included all necessary tools you require to do the rabbit.

Inside the kit: Instructions, beads, needle, wool felt, spangles, ball chain, T-pins and parts for eyes.
Additional tools you might require: Prick punch, craft glue, sissors, pliers

The rabbit that I made. It look different from the packaging -> beginner skill.

Princess seam and pleated skirt dress- Part 1

I would like to share a fabric that I bought recently. It's for my new sewing project. I will update this blog post once the dress is complete. Hope it will turn out well. :)

Fabric: Made in Japan 100% Cotton

I love the design as it look like flower motif when you look closer.

This fabric can be used on either side.

This is the design I intend to sew using this fabric. (Please bear with my horrible drawing)
Peter pan collar, short sleeve, princess seam and pleated skirt.

My First Blog Post - Passport Pouch

This is my first time creating a blog. Firstly, I would like to thank my sister-in-law for her help in creating my personalize watermark and title header. Hopefully I could make my blog colourful with all my sewing projects.

I am a lover of personalized items, thus I would like my friends to have personalized gifts I made for them too. Last Christmas, I did 2 Passport cover for my friends. I have used the Sanrio fabric which I had bought it 2 years ago and embroider their name on to an organza fabric. I choose organza fabric as I like the sheer effect and doesn't steal the limelight from those Sanrio Characters.

I shall share the first passport cover I completed as the other photos are not ready yet.

I added a pocket inside the cover as I wanted a place to put card.
