White top for Mum

Another blog post on a top I sewed for my mum. This time I've used translucent fabric and added lining to it. (I kind of dislike using this fabric as it is very soft making it hard to handle) For the base and sleeves I used a rolled hem footer to make a neat finish instead of hemming it by hand as I usually do.

My regret and mistake in this project is the use of blue tailor chalk as I had difficulty removing it after completing the project. I've tried soaking the top for a day, used stain remover, bleach, etc and the chalk just refuse to come off. T.T Do leave me a comment if you have any ways I could use to remove the chalk marks.

This is the roll hem footer I've used.

The end result of using the roll hem footer is nice and neat! (I Like!)

Seam binding Peter Pan collar for Mum

This is another post of a top I sewed for my mum recently. My mum went to Chinatown last weekend to get this polka dot cotton fabric which is made in Japan. For this top I decided to add blue binding around the collar so as to make the collar more outstanding. This is my first time sewing mitered corner, I followed tutorials on YouTube on how to sew mitred corner and it turn out presentable on the right side of the collar (the wrong side is horrible as I have difficulty sewing the bias tape to the fabric). For the bias tape I used cotton bias tape instead of satin bias tape.

The fabric wrinkle after wearing it for a day at work.

Polka Dots Blue top for Mum

This is another top I did for my mum last weekend. My mum bought this polka dot fabric many years ago from Chinatown. My Mum wanted a low cut boat neck design but how could a boat neck be low cut? I then decide to change the boat neck collar to a wide round neck instead. I added collar to it using remaining fabric from the previous blue top project. Material of the polka dot fabric is cotton.

Drape blue top for Mummy

Over the weekend I manage to complete 2 top for my mum. (She was extremely happy when it was completed) She found this fabric while cleaning up her craft stuffs, there are many fabrics "buried' with her craft materials. I am quite overwhelmed by the amount of fabric hidden in the house which I think I will take years to complete.

For this post I will share the first top I've completed. For this top I used the design published on Lady Boutique 08/2013. This is my first attempt doing drape design hope it turn out decent enough to wear :). The shoulder of this top have a overlap at the wrong side thus covering the shoulder seams. The fabric used is polyester which is wrinkle resistance = does not require ironing.

This is the underside of the shoulder which I had attached an overlap piece and did a slip stitch.
